Short Cat Puke and Hairball Stories Part 5

On this page we would like to have stories (of the humorous or not so humorous type) about cats throwing up!

If you have a good story you would like to contribute - please see our Contact page and send it in!

1/04 - Wake-Up Puke!
My male cat had been outside for some time... he used to disappear for days as he was not neutered and was a good hunter... and came in for a nap. He took a REALLY long nap! It was for a few hours, I think... this was years ago. Anyway, he woke up, sat up, S-T-R-E-T-C-H-E-D slowly and long... and

Bam Bam Bam! (His head shot back and forth about 3 times)

It was like a shotgun going off. PUKE!! This about-a-foot-or-so long, black, hairy looking log (I am NOT exaggerating) shot out of him and hit the floor. I have no idea where he went when he was done. All I know is, my husband and I, who had previously been watching TV calmly, freaked out, jumped up... and then the smell hit us. We had to open the door outside!! We figured out later that our cat had obviously eaten a large, black bird, and that it must have been dead when he found it because it smelled SO NASTY and obviously disagreed with his tummy. He was okay, but we were scarred.

2/04 - Lightening quick reflexes - at 3am!
Living with many cats has me used to cat puke and recently I acquired a dog to help with clean up (he loves cat puke!). I was sleeping soundly one night with my cat nestled on top of my head and several others on the bed. I woke suddenly to the sound of cat puke and determined it was coming from the cat on my head. With lightening quick reflexes I managed to catch the cat puke in hand, jump out of bed and throw it in the toilet with a minimal amount falling on the floor. Not bad for a nearly blind chick at 3 am!

2/04 - Cuter'n puke!
I had 2 cats for 18 years. Both had to be put to sleep a year apart due to health problems caused by old age. One was a Siamese, the other an orange tabby. The Siamese vomited every single day. We became used to seeing his head bounce forward, then backward, forward, then backward again, until the glob was thrown up and it was usually a bunch of food, not chewed up, no odor or anything. Just a bunch of dry food in water (his saliva I guess it was). But never an odor. No odor never, ever. So easy to clean up, too, since the carpet color matched the color of the cat food. I took him to the vet throughout the years for his vomiting problem and the vet changed his food a few times. It might have eased up a little but never went away totally. But he lived 18 years and ultimately died of kidney and liver disease, per the vet. So I've had my share of CAT PUKE through the years. I now have a 1 year old cat named Marley (after Bob Marley) who I got when he was 3 months old. I love him so much!!! He's cuter'n puke! He has not puked once. Not once. My other cat, the orange tabby, would puke now and then, not much. The Siamese more than made up for him. That's my story...and I'm stickin' to it.
