Diary

This section contains a sort of 'puke diary', I've been keeping track of whether or not the cats puke each day. It will also indicate if a hairball was present or not. The original diary included which kind of wet cat food the cats were fed each day. It appears that they are more likely to throw up after eating Salmon than they are after eating other foods.

Note:
Bonus Puke Days (otherwise known as a BPD's)= two pukes on same day
Puke Days From Hell (a PDFH) = three or more pukes on same day

Monday July, 31 2000
Late in the evening Sheba threw up, contained hair ball.
Saturday August,5 2000
Fed the cats Friskies Senior Pacific Salmon in sauce - threw up again, this is one flavor that seems to tend to make them throw up, they seem to really like it though. Maybe they either eat it too fast or it is too rich for them.
Friday August,18 2000
found puke in morning, had hairball!
Sunday August,27 2000
found some puke in the morning, but it was just some dry food
Thursday August, 31 2000
Fed the cats Friskies Special Diet with Salmon - Found puke today! had hairball and Meow Mix in it, along with a small amount of wet food - another salmon day!! !!!!!! Bonus puke day! One of our cats puked for the second time today! I could see something that looked like a small hairball, along with wet food and a little bit of Meow Mix. I nearly stepped in this one too.
Monday Sept. 4 2000
3:30 A.M. still awake, working on this website, while eating I look over towards Mahpee and he pukes right there in front of me. He just sat back and watched me clean it up. Maybe had small hairball, hard to tell, dry food also.
Wednesday Sept. 6 2000
Fed the cats Friskies Shredded Chicken and Salmon in gravy - Sheba puked late in the evening, had hairball, but was the Salmon in the food involved too? If Scooby and the gang were here they would get this mystery solved!
Wednesday Sept. 13 2000
some puke this morning, don't know which one did it.
Saturday Sept. 16 2000
on one of these days one of them puked on the bed, but I lost track of which day, either way, it wasn't on my side :)
Tuesday, Wednesday Sept. 19,20 2000
fed the cats Friskies Special Diet with Salmon no puke Tues. or Wed. so maybe my theory is wrong, or we just haven't found the puke yet!!
Sunday Sept. 24 2000
starting feeding the cats some Purina hairball control food, - they seem to like it
Tuesday Sept. 26 2000
thought I heard a cat puke but couldn't find anything anywhere
Thursday Sept. 28 2000
found some puke in a window sill it had apparently been there a few days, it had a hairball.
Monday Oct. 2 2000
Mahpee puked on bed again, not on my side!! (I didn't notice if there was a hairball or not, I was too sleepy)
Wednesday Oct. 4
threw up again today, I know it was Mahpee because it had catnip in it and I had fed him some earlier, it had a hairball too.
Monday Oct. 23 2000
Puke day from hell !!!! Neither cat had thrown up for a while, but Sheba made up for it on Monday!! She threw up 7 times, all in different little places around the house, all on a Monday morning - great way to start out the week! Fed them some sort of salmon stuff, I think
Oct 24 - Nov. 17
I kind of lost track of the time through here, but I will summarize. The cats puked a few more times, we decided that although they liked the Purina hairball control food, it was time to try something else. We bought them some Science Diet Hairball Control Formula Senior. One day one of the cats threw up on one of the stairs, and before I had a chance to clean it, my husband came over and sat down right in it!! I laughed really hard for quite a while - he didn't. We have also taken the Meow Mix away from them for a while, so they will eat more of the hairball control stuff.

Nov. 19
Another BPD!! One of the cats puked in a couple of places, had a hairball!

Nov. 24
Found some puke in a window sill, don't know how long it had been there, it was pretty dried up. However we know that Mahpee was the culprit, since it contained sunflower seeds and he is the only one who eats them! It also had a hairball.

Nov. 27
BPD! One of the cats threw up in the kitchen this morning, later I found more puke in the bedroom. Neither had hairball, looked like a salmon puke, but they had Friskies Turkey and giblets in gravy today.

Nov.29
PDFH One of the cats threw up quite a bit early this morning, didn't see which one. But later in the afternoon I caught Sheba puking, so I guess she was responsible for all of it. They were fed Friskies Senior Pacific Salmon in sauce today. Coincidence?? I think not.

Dec. 16
BPD! Sheba puked once in the hallway, I know it was her, as I was unfortunate enough to witness the entire event. Later Mahpee puked, I know it was him because it had oat plant leaves in it, and he is the only one to eat them.

Dec. 18
Mahpee puked on the bed just as we were getting ready to go to sleep, and this time it was on my side. But at least I'm short so it was below where my feet were.

Dec. 24
Mahpee threw up on our stairs. Somehow he managed to make it splatter all over the place and I had to clean up little spots of it all over the place. It was a great Christmas eve present.

Jan 2001
I got behind in updating this in Jan., and lost track of the dates. They threw up a few more times, but I don't know exactly when.

Jan. 29 2001
I don't know what the cats had been eating, but they created quite a colorful puke here. It is hard to see from the picture, but it has red and green and yellow in it. It even had a hairball too!

Feb. - Mar. 8, 2001
Haven't been keeping up on this again, but I do have a story to add. A few days ago Mahpee started to throw up so right away I grabbed a paper towel for him to puke on. That went ok, but then he started to puke again, so I moved the paper next to him again. But this time instead of just throwing up, he kind of coughed first, and puke sprayed out all over my hand!! How gross!

January 2002
Still don't get many more pukes - seems like the Science Diet food works pretty well.
